RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Asim Munir’s leadership skills and successful military diplomacy have received growing international recognition, with global publications highlighting his role in promoting peace and regional stability.
His consistent efforts toward strengthening global peace initiatives have distinguished him among international military leaders.
An international journal reportedly described his involvement in US–Iran diplomatic engagement as highly significant and crucial.
According to the Spanish publication EL PAIS, Field Marshal Asim Munir emerged as a strong and effective military leader during the Pakistan–India tensions of May 2025, noting his influence and strategic importance in regional affairs. The report also highlighted his contribution to US–Iran ceasefire-related diplomatic efforts.
The publication further stated that, for the first time in history, a sitting US president hosted a Pakistani military chief who was not a head of state. It added that US President Donald Trump described Field Marshal Munir as an “extraordinary, brave and great warrior.”
Reports also suggest that Field Marshal Munir has been playing an active role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States, leveraging his strategic communication channels with both sides.
EL PAIS noted that he is among the few global figures capable of maintaining engagement with both Washington and Tehran while understanding complex regional and international dynamics.
Experts believe that Field Marshal Asim Munir has become a focal point of global attention due to his leadership qualities and growing diplomatic influence, particularly in efforts aimed at preventing escalation in the Middle East.
