Security forces thwart Khawarij infiltration in South Waziristan

Pakistan Army units launched a counteraction, destroying multiple Afghan check posts.

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Army has thwarted an attempted provocation and infiltration by Khawarij militants in South Waziristan, while security forces carried out a strong retaliatory response after Afghan Taliban elements allegedly targeted civilians across the border.

According to security sources, the incident took place in the Angoor Adda area, where troops successfully foiled attempts by militants to infiltrate Pakistani territory.

Sources said that following the failed infiltration, Afghan Taliban fighters opened fire on civilian areas in Angoor Adda’s Zalol Khel locality.

The attack left three civilians injured, including two women, who were shifted to a hospital in Wana for medical treatment.

Security officials stated that the targeting of civilians reflects frustration after the failed incursion. In response, Pakistan Army units launched a counteraction, destroying multiple Afghan check posts.

The situation remains tense, with security forces maintaining heightened vigilance along the border.
