LAHORE: Defending champions Lahore Qalandars have signed Sri Lankan batting all-rounder Charith Asalanka for the remainder of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11 following the injury of Bangladeshi wicketkeeper-batter Parvez Hossain Emon.
Emon was ruled out of the tournament after suffering a shoulder injury. The setback occurred during Qalandars’ recent match against Multan Sultans when he collided with teammate Asif Ali while fielding, resulting in a torn shoulder ligament. He featured in three matches for the franchise this season.
Left-handed aggressive batter and off-spin bowler Charith Asalanka brings significant international experience, having represented Sri Lanka across all formats of the game. He is set to join the squad ahead of their April 17 clash against Quetta Gladiators.
Lahore Qalandars have had a mixed campaign so far, securing two wins and suffering three defeats in five matches, placing them sixth on the points table.
In their previous outing against Peshawar Zalmi, the team was bowled out for just 97 runs while chasing a target of 174, prompting management to look towards strengthening the middle order.
