Philippines star Misua dies at 27

MANILA: The Drag Race: Philippines community is in mourning after the untimely death of Misua, the talented performer whose real name was Jason Elvie Ty. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, April 2, at the age of 27.

Misua, who was set to appear in the highly anticipated fourth season of the show, had become a beloved figure in the Filipino drag scene. Her sudden passing has left fans, friends and fellow performers devastated.

World of Wonder the production company behind Drag Race shared the sad news on Instagram, announcing that production for the upcoming season has been halted to allow the cast and crew time to grieve. The post remembered Misua for bringing “light, artistry, and joy to those around her,” adding that “she will be deeply missed.”

Her family expressed their heartbreak, calling Jason “a dearly loved son, brother, friend, mentor, and above all, a shining star,” and requested privacy during this difficult time.

The loss of Misua leaves a void in the Filipino drag community, where she inspired many with her talent, creativity, and infectious spirit.
