Bob’s Burgers star Eugene Mirman seriously injured in fiery car crash

Comedian and voice actor Eugene Mirman widely known for his role as Gene Belcher on Bob’s Burgers, was seriously injured Tuesday when his car crashed into a toll plaza and caught fire. The accident occurred just before noon on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Bedford.

Mirman was rescued from the burning vehicle by a state trooper assigned to Governor Kelly Ayotte’s security detail along with the assistance of bystanders.

New Hampshire State Police colonel Mark Hall described the actions as “heroic,” noting that the rescuers acted without hesitation to save Mirman from the fiery wreck.

Mirman, 51 was immediately transported to a hospital for treatment. His agent confirmed that he is now recovering and expressed gratitude to the first responders, bystanders, and hospital staff who helped. The statement also requested privacy for Mirman and his family during his recovery.

Governor Ayotte, who was nearby at the time of the incident praised the quick actions of the trooper and bystanders, stating, “Joe and I are praying for the full recovery of the driver who was injured today.”

Born in Moscow and raised in Massachusetts, Mirman has voiced Gene Belcher for over 300 episodes of Bob’s Burgers, in addition to appearances on Flight of the Conchords, Delocated, Archer, and Inside Amy Schumer.

He has also co-founded the comedy production company Pretty Good Friends and appeared in films including The Bob’s Burgers Movie.

Authorities confirmed that the crash is under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
