KARACHI:
A fire broke out at the Imtiaz private superstore located on Zamzama Street in the Clifton area on Monday, triggering panic in the vicinity as fire brigade teams rushed to the scene.
According to fire brigade officials, six fire tenders are currently engaged in efforts to control the blaze. However, dense smoke and darkness in the basement have hampered rescue and firefighting operations.
Rescue sources said doors are being cut open using cutters to gain access to the basement, in a bid to reach any individuals who may be trapped inside and to bring the fire under control. The rescue officials add that rescue operations may take around 2 hours to complete.
This is a developing story and will be updated as details emerge.
