Tiger Woods arrested, charged with DUI after rollover crash in Florida

The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. in Jupiter Island.

Golf superstar Tiger Woods was arrested on Friday afternoon in Florida for driving under the influence following a rollover accident, authorities reported.

The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. in Jupiter Island, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

No one was injured in the crash, which also involved a truck towing a trailer.

Law enforcement said Woods, 50, was driving a dark Land Rover when he collided with the truck. The truck driver stated that he was turning into a driveway off a two-lane road when he saw Woods approaching “at high speeds” in his mirror.

As the truck driver attempted to move off the road, Woods’ SUV overtook the truck, swerved to avoid a collision, but ultimately clipped the back of the trailer. The Land Rover then rolled onto its driver-side door. Woods was able to exit through a window.

Neither Woods nor the truck driver were hurt.

Police suspected Woods was impaired. He submitted to a breath test but refused a urine test, explaining he had taken medication for previous injuries. He was arrested at the scene and taken to a nearby jail. Woods now faces charges for driving under the influence and refusing to take a test.

Earlier this week, Woods participated in the finals of the Tomorrow’s Golf League on Tuesday, where his team, Jupiter Links Golf Club, was defeated by the Los Angeles Golf Club.
