Fire erupts again at Karachi’s blaze-damaged Gul Plaza

The fire that had earlier been extinguished at Gul Plaza in the busy Saddar area of Karachi has flared up again, prompting fire brigade and rescue teams to intensify emergency operations.

According to fire brigade officials, the blaze erupted in scrap material located on the ground floor of the building. Initially, one fire tender reached the scene, but later four fire tenders were deployed to bring the fire under control.

Reports also suggest that a fire is burning in the basement of the building, which has made the situation more complicated for the rescue teams.

Additional Deputy Commissioner South, Asma Batool, has also reached the site and is personally supervising the rescue and relief operations.

At the request of rescue authorities, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board immediately arranged water supply for firefighting. An emergency has been imposed at the NIPA, Safora, and Sakhi Hasan hydrants, and water tankers have been sent to the scene.

Officials said uninterrupted water supply is being ensured for the fire brigade, and officers from the hydrants cell are in constant contact with the rescue teams. The authorities added that water supply and rescue operations will continue until the fire is completely brought under control.
