8 Killed, 7 Injured in Karachi Accidents

Karachi: The recent spell of rain in Karachi, while bringing welcome relief from the heat, has tragically claimed eight lives and left seven others injured in various incidents across the city.

Rescue officials reported a heartbreaking incident in Lyari’s Musa Lane, where the collapse of a building roof resulted in the deaths of a father and his daughter. Five other individuals, including a woman and children, sustained injuries in the same accident. Another roof collapse in Manzoor Colony, Lane No. 1, led to the death of a child, while his father and another son were injured.

Electrocution incidents also proved fatal during the rainy conditions. In New Karachi Sector 11-J, a 40-year-old man identified as Gulfam died from an electric shock at his home. Similarly, 22-year-old Mir Jan was electrocuted in a shop in Golimar’s Firdous Colony. Further electrocution fatalities include 21-year-old Ahmed in a home in Surjani’s Khuda Ki Basti and 17-year-old Mudassir in Korangi’s Bilal Colony.

In addition to the fatalities, rescue sources confirmed that 22-year-old Kamran was injured due to an electric shock at a company in SITE Area’s Labor Square. Authorities are urging residents to exercise extreme caution during the ongoing monsoon season.
