3 cops martyred in Dera Ismail Khan blast targeting police vehicle


Three cops, including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), were martyred in a blast targeting a police vehicle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan on Wednesday, spokesperson for district police Yaqoob Zulqarnain said.
He told Dawn that the blast took place in the jurisdiction of the Paniyala police station, in which ASI Gul Alam, Constable Rafiq and the driver of the mobile van, Sakhi Jan, lost their lives.
Another constable accompanying them, Azad Shah, remained unhurt, the police spokesperson said.
He said the site of the incident had been cordoned off. The Paniyala deputy superintendent of police and station house officer left for the site after the blast, he added.
