Bollywood actor Vidya Balan has often faced body shaming for appearing overweight in many of her films. However, her recent portrayal of the bold and fearless Manjulika in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 shows that she has undergone a significant weight loss.
One might be surprised to know that Vidya Balan achieved this goal without exercise. In a recent interview, the Bollywood diva said, “I have been troubled by increased weight throughout my whole life. What all have I not done to become slim! I tried controlling my diet and also exercised like crazy. This would reduce my weight but it would come back again. This time we adopted another method and the result has been better.”
According to a report, Vidya Balan took the help of Chennai-based nutritional group Amura Health to lose weight and did something completely different. This time she has focused on her diet and not on exercise.
“This time we have chosen such food according to our body needs which do not cause inflammation,” she said adding, “It is only about inflammation. It is not about fat. Amura Health told me about this thing. In this way I removed food that causes inflammation from my diet. And it worked wonders for me.”
Vidya Balan said that not every kind of food suits every person’s body. That particular food item may be nutritional, but it is not possible that it suits everyone, she pointed out.
“I have been a vegetarian all my life but I did not know that spinach and gourd do not suit me. Therefore, you should know what kind of diet suits you and what kind does not. We think that all kinds of green vegetables are beneficial but this is not the case with everyone. In such a situation, I was advised to focus on the right food and not on sweating in the gym,” she said.
Inflammation refers to the response of cells to certain foods that trigger swelling, weakening cellular capacity. This generates free radicals and leads to oxidative stress, contributing to various diseases.
Vidya Balan shared that she had removed foods that increase inflammation in her from her diet and included anti-inflammatory foods. Processed food, fast food, junk food, packaged food, soda, cold drinks, sweet beverages are foods that may increase inflammation.
According to Harvard Medical Health, food that fights inflammation fights chronic diseases like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, depression and Alzheimer’s. Tomatoes, olive oil, green leafy vegetables, spinach, kale, collards, nuts, almonds, walnuts, fatty fish like salmon, marmot, tuna, sardines, fresh fruits like strawberries, blueberries, oranges are anti-inflammatory.
