11 soldiers martyred, 12 terrorists killed in Bajaur checkpost attack: ISPR

ISPR said the terrorist attack was carried out by Indian-sponsored terrorists on 16 February 2026.

Eleven soldiers were martyred and 12 militants were killed after a cowardly terrorist attack was attempted on security forces and law enforcement agencies joint check post in Bajaur.

According to ISPR, the terrorists rammed a vehicle laden with explosives into the check post wall, causing extensive damage to the infrastructure.

Despite the destruction, the alert security personnel responded swiftly, engaging the attackers and preventing further loss of life or damage. During the operation, security forces demonstrated exceptional bravery and professionalism, killing 12 fleeing terrorists.

The blast resulted in the martyrdom of 11 security personnel and caused damage to nearby civilian buildings, leading to the tragic death of a young girl and injuries to seven women and children. The ISPR confirmed that clearance operations are ongoing in the area to eliminate any remaining terrorists.

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed strong outrage over the cowardly act, which he linked to Indian-backed terrorists, and prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks while offering patience to their families. He emphasized that eradicating foreign-backed terrorism remains Pakistan’s top priority.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the assault, expressing sorrow over the martyrdom of security personnel and civilians. He praised the security forces for their timely response and success in eliminating the terrorists.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate terrorism entirely and assured the nation of unwavering support for the armed forces in this ongoing war.
