Sui Southern Gas company announce no Gas loadshedding during this Eid Holidays

KARACHI: The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) announced on Thursday that it will ensure an uninterrupted gas supply during the Eid ul Adha holidays, according to a news report.

The company confirmed that it will not carry out any gas loadshedding in Sindh, including Karachi, bringing much-needed relief to residents during the festive period.

According to the statement, SSGC will maintain an uninterrupted gas supply during the Eid holidays from June 7 to 9. However, the company clarified that it will resume the regular gas loadshedding schedule starting June 10. Pakistan will celebrate Eid al-Adha on Saturday, June 7.

Millions of Muslims around the world, including in Pakistan, celebrate Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, as a significant Islamic holiday.

Eid ul Adha commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (PBUH) willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah. Muslims mark the occasion by offering sacrifices, performing special prayers, engaging in charity, and sharing festive meals with family and friends.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of a severe heatwave expected to affect most parts of the country during the Eid ul Adha holidays and the following week.

The Met Office expects a high-pressure system to develop over Pakistan on June 7, which will begin affecting most regions from June 8, causing a significant rise in day temperatures.

From June 7 to 12, daytime temperatures in the upper half of the country—including central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan—are expected to soar 5 to 7°C above normal.

In the southern half of the country—covering upper and central Sindh, southern Punjab, and parts of Balochistan—temperatures will likely remain 4 to 6°C above normal during the same period.

Due to excessive surface heating, authorities also anticipate dust storms and gusty winds over the plains.
