PM orders NDMA to step up rescue in flood-hit Punjab

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to accelerate rescue and relief operations in Punjab districts affected by flooding in the Sutlej River.

The Prime Minister instructed the NDMA chairman to take urgent measures for the evacuation of stranded residents and ensure their safe relocation.

He also emphasized the need for enhanced monitoring and protective measures in light of the flood situation at Ganda Singh Wala along the Sutlej River.

The prime minister also directed to ensure the provision of food, medicines, and tents to the affected population, besides instructing the NDMA chairman to maintain close coordination with Punjab’s disaster management authority.
