ISLAMABAD: Only two new sports development schemes have been tabled in the Federal Budget 2025-26 with Arshad Nadeem/Shehbaz Sharif High Performance Sports Academy to get Rs 300 million during the next financial year.
The construction of a multipurpose sports complex in Faisalabad is the other new scheme proposed in the budget. If approved, the venture will get Rs 100 million during the next financial year.
The Arshad Nadeem/Shehbaz Sharif High Performance Sports Academy (also waiting for approval) to be established within the Pakistan Sports Complex vicinity is a major project that will cost Rs 2,858.596 million in all. If the scheme gets go ahead, Rs 300 million is expected to be released during the coming financial year.
Eight old schemes already in the development process will continue to get finances in the coming years. These include establishment of a bio mechanical lab at the Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad. The total cost of the project is Rs 169.300 million with Rs 40.735 million to be released during this financial year.
Laying of synthetic athletics track/football ground at the PSB Coaching Centre Karachi will get another Rs 108 million during the coming financial year. The total cost of the project is Rs 718 million.
Rehabilitation and upgradation of existing facilities for the preparation of the 14th South Asian Games will get another Rs 53.105 million from the total cost of Rs 1,949 million. Rehabilitation and upgradation of existing facilities at the PSB Coaching Centre at Karachi will get another Rs 70 million during the coming financial year from the total cost of Rs 397.886 million.
