ISLAMABAD: Minnows Myanmar edged Pakistan 1-0 in the AFC Asia Cup qualifying round match at Thuwunna Stadium, Yangon, Tuesday.

In what turned out to be a poor performance from the Pakistan side, Myanmar scored through Thaen Peng who cashed in on a defence error to put his team 1-0 up in the 41st minute. Myanmar got good opportunities to go 2-0 up close to the final hooter but were denied a goal by the goalkeeper.

It was Pakistan’s second successive loss in the AFC Asia Cup Qualifier. Pakistan earlier lost to Syria 0-2. Pakistan will now play in back to back matches against Afghanistan in October. It was the eighth successive loss for Pakistan team under head coach Stephen Constantine.
